The death of a loved one is a very difficult time. No matter the circumstances of the death or the age of the deceased, it is impossible to fully prepare oneself for the final occasion of death itself. The wounds of grief need time and care to heal. The funeral service, in whatever form you choose, may help this process, by enabling space to acknowledge the loss, to give thanks for the life of the person who has died, make our last farewell, and begin to take up life once more.

Human beings have sensed the mystery of death, and the pain of grief, since time immemorial. Every society has developed rites to mark the passage from life through death, and to commemorate the dead. At St. Martin’s we stand ready to assist you to plan a service which reflects your beliefs and your needs, within a distinctively Christian framework.

Please contact the Vicar to discuss your own particular requests, whether it be a full Funeral Service in the church, a Memorial Service, or the interring (placing) of ashes in the Memorial Garden at St. Martin’s.

A cost of $500 is applicable to the Church for the Funeral Service. This includes the time taken to plan and prepare the service and the use of the church. The Parish Organist is also available to play for the service, for a separate charge.
